You Know You’re Retired When …
You know you're retired when…
- You have absolutely no idea what day of the week it is, but you know exactly what time the grocery store puts out the fresh bread.
- A doctor's appointment at 10:30 means the entire morning is pretty much spoken for.
- You plan your errands around avoiding rush hour, school buses, bad weather, and basically anyone else who might be out at the same time.
- You consider going somewhere on a Tuesday morning a real treat because, well, you can!
- You look at the calendar and realize you have a busy week ahead. Two appointments, lunch with a friend, and a trip to Costco. How will you fit it all in?
- Getting a good deal on something has become a competitive sport. Senior discounts? Absolutely. Early bird specials? Don't mind if we do.
- Staying up until 10:30 feels like a late night.
- You can spend an entire afternoon doing absolutely nothing and still feel like you've had a very productive day.
- You have to make an appointment to see your friends because everyone is travelling.
- You consider a trip to the dump or the garden centre a perfectly acceptable outing.
- Your biggest Monday morning decision is whether to have coffee inside or out on the deck.
- You start wondering how people who still work manage to get everything done.
- You go away for a weekend and need three days to recover
- You know exactly which grocery stores have the best prices, which days have senior discounts, and when the sales change.
- You start referring to your working friends as people who are "still working."
- You have more flexibility in your schedule than you ever imagined, but somehow you're still wondering where the time goes.
- You have become an expert at filling your days with things that aren't particularly important but are somehow very enjoyable.
- You look at people rushing to work in the morning and feel just a tiny bit smug as you sip your second cup of coffee.
And finally…
- Someone asks what you do all day, and you honestly can’t tell them.
So, what about you?
What would you add to the list? Are there things you've started doing since retiring that you never imagined would become part of your daily routine?
I'm sure there are plenty of retired people out there who have a few more to contribute. Let's hear them! After all, we have plenty of time to read the comments.

You've come up with a long list of items that may cover most everyway of being retired.
