April 1 - Firing it up again!

Today feels like (another) new beginning.  I always have good intentions with this forum, but then seem to fall away and put it on the back burner.  I think I suffer from writer's block and am always very critical of my own writing  While I enjoy writing, and getting my thoughts down, it's not natural for me.

However, this month I am going to participate in the Ultimate Blog Challenge where I will be committing to posting daily for the month of April.

This blog has always been a place where I share pieces of our retirement life, especially the travel side of it. Not in a "look where we went" kind of way, but more as a way to remember the moments, the lessons, and the small things that made each experience meaningful.

So for this challenge, I'm setting a few simple goals:

  • to be consistent - even on days that I don't feel like writing
  • to capture more of the everyday moments and not just the highlights
  • to share a mix of stories, tips, and reflections from this stage of life
  • and to enjoy the process
I hope that you'll join me on this month-long journey and share your own thoughts and questions along the way.

To start things off, I'm going to keep things simple today with my first Wordless Wednesday photo.

No story behind this one, just a little peek into our winter and our attempts to evade the very snowy weather back home in Canada.

  1. Barbara, great to see you again, I always enjoy your posts! Love the "snowman" on the beach, too. Very fitting these days.

  2. Very cute snowman 😀
I'll be interested in reading your blog as someone who is on the run in to retirement.
I hope you make it to the end of the challenge!

  5. Welcome back, Barbara - how fun! Is this one of those - you can take the girl out of the snow - but you can't take the snow out of the girl! Happy retirement!
