2025 Travel Wrap Up - On to 2026
I'm very late with my 2025 travel update, but here it is.
2025 was a year of disjointed travel - by that I mean there was a little of this and a little of that - no real structure to where we went. It was more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants kinda year. Still, with that we had some great trips and saw some incredible places.
To start off the year, I joined a couple of friends on a Caribbean cruise for a week of fun, relaxation, and lots of girl time.
From there I flew to Punta Cana to join John to ride out the winter in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, as we have done for the last four years. We have developed a real community there and enjoy our time with friends and family.
In June we flew to Vancouver Island for two weeks. While we had been to British Columbia a few times prior we had never made it to Vancouver Island. It was a trip filled with hiking, wildlife, and incredible scenery.
Our summer months were spent close to home, splitting our time between our home, and our trailer (which is parked in a seasonal park about an hour and a half from home). We biked a lot, spent time with friends, and began planning our Fall trip. We rounded up the summer with a quick road trip to Montreal where our son had an interview for his US Immigration, and then a few weeks later, a trip to Virginia to help him finally move to join his wife full time and begin their life together.
Our big trip for the Fall was another trans-Atlantic cruise. We flew into Paris where we spent a few days exploring the iconic city before flying to Barcelona to board the MSC Seaside for a 24-day cruise that would spend time on both sides of the Atlantic. This cruise wasn't as much about seeing new places as it was relaxing and spending time with good friends.
Our year in travel stats is as follows:
- trips taken - 4
- total travel days - 130
- road trips - 2
- countries visited - 10
- flights taken - 7
- hours on planes - 32.5 hours
- cruises taken - 2
- days on board - 31
- cars rented - 2
- Paris
- Vancouver Island
- Morocco
- Victoria, BC
- Spain
2026 Travel plans
We’re kicking off the new year by heading to the sun once again. Currently we are sailing around the Caribbean for 21 days before heading back to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, for two months.
In June I will be travelling to Newfoundland for a two week trip with my sisters and cousin.
The remainder of the year is still to be determined. We don't usually plan that far in advance.
We’re excited to see what new adventures 2026 holds. Whatever we do, I know we’re in for an amazing journey!
