Zipling in Punta Cana

Flying Through the Trees: Zipling in Punta Cana

Those that know us will know that we are always up for an adventure. While we enjoy our quiet time, a good book, or a quiet cruise—don’t get me wrong, I love those things too—but give me a harness, a helmet, and a zipline soaring over the treetops, and that’s our kind of thrill.

After spending the morning at Monkeyland (as shared in the post before this one) we, along with our son and daughter-in-law, got our heart racing on the ziplines at Runners Adventures Zipline Park. We had read about it beforehand—said to be one of the longest ziplines in the Caribbean—and we were all itching to go.

Three of the four of us had been ziplining in the past, but it was our first time on this course.

We were outfitted with  harnesses and helmets and received a safety briefing before climbing to the first of 18 platforms and 12 zip lines.

We zipped across the sky from one platform to another on lines that ranged in length and height, including one that was more than 2,600 feet long! In all, we traveled more than a mile on zip lines, enjoying the 360-degree jungle views at every turn. It was very exhilarating.

Since it was afternoon, and we were in the tropical forest, it got pretty warm.  We were given water to stay hydrated, but it was still a challenge when we needed to climb a tower. In retrospect, taking the morning zipline tour would have been better from a heat perspective.

Our Thoughts

We've done quite a few zipline trips in the past and this was one of the better courses we've done. We were genuinely impressed by the experience—not just the sheer length and height of the ziplines, but by how well-run and professional the whole operation was - the guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and made safety their top priority without ever taking the fun out of it.

It is definitely something we will do again.

  1. Zip-lining is on my bucket list. But at age 73, I fear my time is running out.

    1. You've got to check that one off your bucket list. You'll love it.

  3. It's great that you have so much fun ziplining - for me, who suffers from a fear of heights, it would be torture.

    1. A fear of heights and ziplining would not be a good match.
