The Story of Princess
As the days went on, we noticed that someone had given her a dog bed, laid outside the complex. She loved it, spending most of her days curled up in it.
A few weeks later, someone else bought her a dog house.
At that point we began asking questions about Princess, and learned her story.
Princess was the original resident of the land where the condo complex now stood. Once the complex was completed, she continued to hang around the entrance. The condo owners decided to take care of her and honor her as the original occupant. She was well taken care of with all the food, and left-overs she could ever want. They took her for vet for check-ups. During owners meetings she was brought in to attend. As some owners took their own dogs for walks, she would tag along.
She was a little cautious of new people, but would come out and greet those she was comfortable with.
Sadly, when we arrived this year, the first thing we noticed was that her house was no longer there. Walking through the front door of the lobby, our first question was "Where's Princess?" We were informed that she passed away in November.
She had a good life as a street dog and was well-loved. The entrance to the complex just isn't the same without her there.
Oh how sad! But also, how lovely of them to continue taking care of her. That's a neat story!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet that she had a good life as a street dog and the complex let her stay. I'm sure she was well loved by everyone.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that Princess, the Condo Dog, passed away. What a nice story though, everyone was contributing to making her life the best life a dog could imagine!
